How To Wash a Cat by Rebecca M. Hale

Title: How To Wash A Cat, Book one of the Cats and Curios Series
Author: Rebecca M Hale
Where'd I get it: Irvin's Books
Published: January 2010
ISBN: 9780425232040
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Rating: @@@
Heat Index: N/A

Synopsis: When the heroine's Uncle passes away after a stroke, she inherits his antique shop in Jackson Square, San Francisco. He leaves her an envelope containing a tulip shape key. She and her cats, Rupert and Isabella, need to figure out a mystery dating back to the Gold Rush and which of their quirky new acquaintances are up to no good.

My thoughts: This was the strangest book I ever read. It was a page turner because I wanted to see what happened next, and I adored the cats. The prose was rather wordy and there were tons of adjectives adorning every sentence. And some that were just odd. Crunchy eyelashes? How are eyelashes crunchy? We never find out the heroine's name until the very last page, everyone she meets refers to her as Oscar's niece.

Oddly written but I'm willing to try book 2 before deciding if I would go further with this series.

She's No Faerie Princess by Christine Warren

Title: She's No Faerie Princess
Author: Christine Warren
Where'd I get it: Irvin's Books
Published: November 2006
ISBN: 9780312365875
Rating: @@@@@
Heat Index: Scorching

Synopsis: Fiona hates court life and fears her Aunt, the fairy queen Mab, will name her as heir. She decides to take a short vacation in the human realm, which is forbidden to the fae. Her world is turned upside down when she is attacked by a demon immediately upon stepping out of the gate. Luckily, werewolf Tobias Walker is patrolling the park and jumps in to protect her. Sparks fly between the two as Tobias realizes the implications of a faerie princess being in the human realm.

The next day he and Fiona return to the gate, only to find it warded, making it impossible for her to return home. Victims of the demons begin to pile up and Fiona and Tobias' pack have to sort out what is going on and save humans, the Others, and the Fae alike.

My thoughts: What a delightful book. If I had a keeper shelf, it would be placed happily upon it. The sexual chemistry between Fiona and Walker sparks and their banter has the feel of the classic show MOONLIGHTING. Fiona is a kick-ass heroine and Tobias is a howl as the protective, yet put-upon mate.

Zoo World game on Facebook

This game is wearing a bit thin with me. Part of it is the game's fault, part of it is Facebook's fault. Facebook can't be bothered to set up different newsfeeds for the apps, but they can shove down our throat every time someone friends someone (and yes, I know it's a security setting but people don't want to be bothered to change their setting. Not like I can do it for them.) I can't get the animals I need to level up and my amounts for bonuses have gone down.

I have the Zoo World bonus checker, but every time there's an animal I need, it says I'm not friends with the person who posted it. Isn't it only supposed to tap in to my friends' feeds? ARRRRGGGG

General Hospital

I declare if this show wins best drama at the Daytime Emmys, I'll have a fit of some sort. A dangerous fit. They have me rolling my eyes so much during every episode that I'm getting a permanent headache and I think I'm going cross-eyed.

I'm midway through She's No Faerie Princess by Christine Warren, book 2 in the Others series. I am enjoying it very much so far. Review to follow when done.

Going to try to get started

It's time for me to get this blog a rolling.
